For hearing-impaired visitors, Notre-Dame de Paris offers various accessibility and mediation tools, while strongly recommending that they come accompanied to fully enjoy the visit
Access
The main entrance through the central portal (Portal of the Last Judgment) is wheelchair accessible. A fast-track access is available to avoid waiting in line. No reservation is necessary.
An accompanying person is allowed for the visit to the cathedral and the treasury.
Accessibility Features
- Hearing loops: Installed at the reception counters, in sales areas, and in specific areas of the nave to follow services or conferences. These are marked with appropriate signage.
- Signage: Clear visual signage in French, English, and Spanish is present throughout the cathedral.
Mediation Tools
- Audioguides: Available for rent at the reception desk (€5), the audioguides enable independent exploration of the cathedral in French, English, or Spanish. Hearing loops are available for hearing-impaired visitors when renting an audioguide.
- Mobile app: A free new mobile app, compatible with Android and iPhone, offers visitors guided tours in in French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and Chinese. Special care has been taken to enhance accessibility. The app features three tour options and provides text transcriptions of the audio tours.
