On 3 June 2026, at the invitation of the bishops of Île-de-France and the Bishop for the Armed Forces, the Prayer Vigil for Life took place at Notre-Dame de Paris.
17th annual Prayer Vigil for Life
Launched in 2009 by Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, this vigil aims to bring together the faithful, families, pastoral leaders and those committed to serving human dignity, in order to pray, reflect and support those facing the vulnerabilities of the beginning and end of life.
Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris notably emphasised that this respect for life is upheld not only by believers but also by many healthcare workers on a daily basis.

« I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God » (2 Tm 1:6)
Inspired by the theme « I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God » (2 Tm 1:6), this evening of prayer highlighted how lives are transformed by the grace of baptism and the sacraments. Three speakers shared their personal journeys and explained how faith, hope and care for the most vulnerable can renew a person’s life.
