Solemnity of the Assumption at Notre-Dame de Paris – 14 and 15 August2026

On 14 et 15 August 2026, Notre-Dame de Paris will celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. This feast day celebrates the glory of the Virgin Mary at theend of her earthly life. On this occasion, a procession from Notre-Dame de Paris traditionally takes place through the streets of the capital.

Changes to visitor arrangements at Notre-Dame de Paris for this celebration

Due to this solemn occasion, the cathedral is making exceptional adjustments to its opening hours. Consequently, from 3.00 pm on Thursday 14 August, visiting hours will be reduced until the evening of 15 August. No group visits or individual bookings will be accepted.

The cathedral will, however, remain open for prayer and liturgical celebrations.
