Hail Mary

Bishop of Paris (1196-1208), Eudes de Sully formula le Hail Mary by adding a conclusion to the Marian antiphons of the celebrations of the Annunciation and the visitation which retook the words of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary. This prayer spread throughout Europe at the same time as the synodal statutes that Eudes de Sully promulgated for the Diocese of Paris and which inspired many other bishops.

You can listen to the Hail Mary Sung in the chorus of Notre-Dame:

Hail Mary,
Full of grace.
The Lord is with you.
You are blessed
Among all women
And Jesus, the fruit of your bowels,
Is blessed.

Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us,
Poor sinners,
Now and on time
About our death.
