"At the Coming of Christmas"

At the coming of Christmas is the title of one of the oldest popular airs of Christmas. On the occasion of this Christmas, the Masters and organists of Notre-Dame de Paris are suitable for a journey among the great musical themes of the Nativity, in a sound deployment to the extent of the vast cathedral of Paris: Choir and organs, with accents in turn rec Ueillis or triumphant, mix their voices to sing the coming of the child-God.

MENDELSSOHN, RHEINBERGER, BRAHMS:
It is known with what enthusiasm Mendelssohn organized the first modern execution of Bach's St. Matthew Passion in Berlin in 1829. This event sparked a passion for choral music to which the composer was the first to respond. Virtuoso organists like Mendelssohn himself, Brahms and Rheinberger are certainly the ones who have followed him with the most success. With these three composers emerges the image of a pious Germany, but also of a people drawing in its roots the strength of its renewal: everything indebted to them to the music of the past (Bach, but also Handel, Schütz or Palestrina), never these Composers do not abdicate their own sensibility, much of their time. What brings them together appears as much as what separates them in this program conceived in the manner of a liturgy: on the framework formed by the pieces of the common – the six movements of the mass of Rheinberger – are grafted the motets of Brahms and Mendelssohn corresponding to the PR Operates of time, as at an office.
