Vénération de la Sainte Couronne d'Épines

Betrayed by his disciple Judas, Christ is arrested. He is accused of spreading disorder in the population, and especially his teachings to usurp the title of Messiah, that is to say the Son of God sent to save men. Interrogated by Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of the region, scourged by Roman soldiers, he was sentenced to be nailed to a cross - punishment reserved for criminals. Passion continues with the ascent of the hill of Golgotha, also called "Calvary", responsible for the cross. He fell several times to exhaustion. Crucified, he expires in a few hours. Down from the cross by his family, he is wrapped in a shroud and his body is placed in a tombstone.

On this particular day, Christians are called to approach repentance and conversion, and visible expression of the expectation of Christ. The Holy Friday, called Office of the Lord’s Passion is centered on the proclamation of the Passion narrative (Gospel of John). Stations of the Cross with the steps of the Passion of Christ will be proposed to the faithful in the afternoon and two offices sung prayers: Morning Office and the Office Passion chorale.
